Circulation is about bringing the new, fresh energy and removing the old, toxic wastes. Letting go of what no longer serves us, our cells, our minds. Even when we think that a system is “closed” and recirculating, it is often that we need to open our perception. Let in some new oxygen and breath into a new part of the body!
When we hold on, resist and shut out other people, we are unable to circulate with fresh energy, we give rise to metaphorical and physical cancers – out of control patterns of growth. The build up of tension in a physical and psychological sense creates disease. Sometimes the disease is easy to spot, like a cough, migraine or sprained ankle. Sometimes the disease is inner anger. Kundalini yoga for Circulation and Detoxification is one of the tools for rejuvenation. Many different yoga and prenatal yoga kriyas as taught by Yogi Bhajan provide us with opportunities for cleansing the lymphatic system and strengthening the circulatory system. This type of cleansing assists in the prevention and healing of precancerous lesions and so much more. Since we practice these kriyas with specific breathing and rhythm, we are also synchronizing our minds with our bodies, and our hearts with our minds. This is called entrainment.
Entrainment is a process of falling into synchrony or a form of relationship with sounds, people, energy systems that surround us. We see this in the ecosphere as the system with greater frequency slowing down and the one with lower frequency speeding up so that harmony or balance is found in the relationship between the two systems. It has meaning in labour and birth, healthy group function, group thought patterns, and at the microscopic level it happens in our bodies all the time to restore homeostasis and release that which is a burden to health.
Prenatal Yoga opens the circulatory system rhythmically, and gives us the experience of ritual and vast depths of relaxation within ourselves – the tools we need for conscious birth. Entrainment is a part of that process – of allowing the pathways for neurochemicals to act without backing up the system with too much cortisol and stress hormone release. Prenatal yoga assists with the training of mind-body-spirit to prepare for conscious birth.
Food choices become easier to make consciously when we are practising Yoga.
